You will not find a more qualified team of instrumental music teachers in the city than those here at Lasalle. Mr. Savard and Mr. Scherzinger both have been recognized with “Awards of Excellence” for teaching from the Rainbow District School Board. Moreover, they continue to play professionally. Mr. Scherzinger is one of the most sought after trumpet player in the city. His last CD with his group “Broche a Foin” won album of the year from the 2011 “Music Film and Motion Awards”. Mr. Savard continues to play guitar with Jeff Wiseman, Stephane Paquette, and Mr. MD and the Aural Exciters. Both teachers have performed at the Northern Lights Festival Boreal, Summerfest, Sudbury Blues Festival and Sudbury Jazz Fest.

Ms. Dupuis is a new addition to the team. She has many years of vocal and piano expertise having directed Lasalle’s vocal ensemble for the past seven years. They have won continuous “Gold” awards from the Kiwanis festival. She will be teaching our vocal course AMV.

Intermediate Concert Band (for grade 9 and 10 students)
Be part of the 40 year tradition of The Lasalle Concert Bands!
This is an out of timetable course offered every Monday and Wednesday mornings from 7:30 a.m till 8:25 a.m. The course focuses on the mastery of Concert Band repertoire suitable for the group’s grade level. Students from the AMU 100 and 200 course are encouraged to enroll. The Concert Band performs for feeder schools and community concerts held in our school gym. The group also participates annually at the Northern Ontario MusicFest.

Vocal music
Ms. Dupuis is a blast! She has a passion for music.
Is a combined class of grade 9, 10, 11, and 12 students learning vocal techniques to help improve their skills such as breathing, phrasing and harmonizing. Members are encouraged to participate in Lasalle’s Vocal Ensemble which rehearses during lunch and occasionally after school. The vocal ensemble is also directed by Ms. Dupuis.

Senior Instrumental Music
Time to refine your skills, meet new friends and rekindle old friendships!
This Class is a combined instrumental music class comprised of grade 10, 11 and 12 students and is a continuation of AMU100-200. Mr. Scherzinger also introduces the group to some Jazz repertoire to spice things up. This is a place to refine your skills. Most students also participate in our school bands.

Senior Concert Band
The fun continues with a more sophisticated repertoire!
This is a continuation of AMR100-200. This course focuses on a more sophisticated repertoire where the ensemble blend, phrasing, articulation and intonation are all refined. It is offered on Tuesday and Thursday Mornings from 7:30 till 8:30 am. The Concert Band also performs for feeder schools and community concerts held in our school gym. The group also participates annually at the Northern Ontario MusicFest.

Is a beginner’s guitar program.
Would you feel safer learning guitar in an all girls class? Look no further!
Is a beginning course for guitar for female students. The course is for female students in grade 10, 11, or 12 who want to learn in a less intimidating environment. He is looking forward to teaching some chording songs that the girls would like to sing. The acquisition of all the notes in the first position and most open chords is part of the course. Chording strumming patterns, picking techniques, improvising are also introduced. The girls are encouraged to continue in the mixed combined AMG 3M and 4M courses that follow. It’s fun. Sign up now!

Instrumental music (for grade 9 and 10 students)
Time to learn a new instrument and meet new friends with the same interest!
This course teaches the beginning fundamentals of playing a wind instrument. Flutes, Clarinets, Bass Clarinets, Alto saxophones, Tenor saxophones, Baritone Saxophones, Trumpets, Trombones, Baritones, Tubas, French Horns, Oboes, Basses and Percussion instruments are all available for this course. No previous experience is required.

AMG3MO-AMG4MO teacher Mr. Savard
Intermediate and senior level guitar program
Looking for a challenge. Now we are getting serious!
This is continuation of AMG 200. Playing in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh positions is explored as well as learning more sophisticated chords structures. Ensemble music is the main focus. The class does feeder school tours at the end of each semester showcasing the repertoire they have been working on. The group has won “Gold” awards in every year of competition.

Jazz repertoire
Calling all Concert Band members to sign up and learn a new style!
Mr. Scherzinger's expertise in this area is a sure hit with the students. He teaches a wide variety of styles focusing on correct jazz phrasing and articulation. The students are all encouraged to improvise. It's a blast! It is an out of timetable course offered after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. The ensemble performs for feeder schools and community concerts held in our school gym. They also participate annually at the Northern Ontario MusicFest.
